Maria Grissom

Maria is a mom of three young kids, and a co-founder of Raising Timothys. She is passionate about serving others while balancing family life with her mission to make a positive impact.

Matthew is a father of two daughters with a son on the way. An outgoing extrovert, he thrives on building connections and enjoys engaging with others, both professionally and personally.

Jonathan Grissom

Jonathan, a father of three, has 25 years of experience in full-time ministry and co-founder of Raising Timothys. Recently transitioning to the business world, his passion for service, leadership, and building relationships continues to shape his work.

Ann is a mother of three adult children, and grandmother to four grandchildren. She is deeply devoted to her family and has a heart for loving and serving others.

About the Founders

Jonathan and Maria have been married for 8 years, they are proud parents of three wonderful children. Over the years, their family has lived in four different states, each move bringing new adventures and growth. They are embarking on an exciting new journey by launching Raising Timothys, a nonprofit focused on fostering prayer and generational faith and evangelism in the next generation.

With a passion for hospitality, Maria loves to cook, bake, and get creative with crafts. Summer is her favorite season, and the beach or pool is her ideal vacation, where she enjoys making memories with their family. She enjoys playing games, both as a fun way to connect with loved ones and to bring laughter into their home. Simple joys like movie nights and popcorn during family time also hold a special place in her heart.

Grounded by her faith, Maria draws inspiration from Acts 20:24, living a life dedicated to sharing God’s grace and building a legacy of faith.

"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace." - Acts 20:24

Jonathan is a devoted husband, dad, and ministry leader who finds joy in running, a good donut, spending time with his family, and pursuing theological studies through seminary. Jonathan is passionate about sharing the Gospel, and committed to helping others grow in their faith and confidence to share it with the world. Whether it’s through prayer gatherings or one-on-one discipleship, his heart is set on equipping the next generation to know and love Christ.

Driven by a deep sense of purpose, Jonathan finds his life verse in Philippians 1:6. This scripture serves as a constant reminder of God’s faithfulness and His unwavering commitment to the good work He begins in each of us.

The story of Raising Timothys

In February 2023, I (Maria) was preparing to welcome my third baby in three years. I had just moved to a new city, away from family and friends, and felt lonely. I deeply longed for a group of moms to pray with—a community where we could lift up our children in prayer together. More than that, I dreamed of gathering with my close friends, to pray for our kids.

At first, I hesitated. I thought about starting something on Zoom but dismissed it, thinking, Everyone’s over Zoom after 2020. I doubted anyone else would want this as much as I did. I told myself, They don’t need this; they have friends and family close by. But the Lord kept putting it on my heart.

In February 2024, I finally took a leap of faith and texted three close friends. To my excitement, they said yes! We began meeting virtually, and it was exactly what my heart needed—to see their faces, catch up, and most importantly, pray for our children together.

That’s when I realized this wasn’t just for me. I wanted to offer this opportunity to other moms who were looking for a community, friends, or family to pray with. My vision grew: a space where moms everywhere could gather, no matter the distance, to pray for their children. What started as a small group has now grown into a community of moms from multiple states across the country, gathering monthly to lift up their kids in prayer. It’s been incredible to witness how encouraging and life-giving these moments have become for everyone involved.

Our mission is simple but powerful: We support families in nurturing their children and grandchildren in Christian faith, inspired by 2 Timothy 1:5. Through prayer and guidance, we strive to pass on a legacy of sincere faith, equipping the next generation to live out and share the gospel with conviction.

I found inspiration in 2 Timothy 1:5, which speaks of the faith passed down from Timothy’s grandmother, Lois, to his mother, Eunice, and then to him. This legacy of faith through prayer deeply resonated with me. My hope is to see not only mothers but grandmothers joining these gatherings, praying together for the future generations of faithful believers.

Our vision is to grow and expand to include dads, grandmothers, and grandfathers, uniting families in prayer. Together, we’ll seek to pass down a legacy of faith to the next generation, equipping them to know and share Christ boldly. Whether you’re a parent or grandparent, your prayers can shape the future.
